The CPU for Gamers
As a mid-range CPU from the new AMD Ryzen 7000 Series, the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X delivers on gaming performance. In fact, AMD promise its part of the fastest CPU range for gaming currently on the market (at time of launch). Boasting eight cores and sixteen threads, this processor utilises SMT (simultaneous multithreading technology) to optimise performance during gaming workloads. Base frequencies for this processor are 4.5GHz, but this can be boosted up to 5.4GHz with the use of Precision Boost 2 or Precision Boost Overdrive.
Overall, this latest generation of Ryzen processors has an incredible uplift in performance and IPC (instructions per cycle). Intelligently split into L1, L2, and L3 tiers, there is 40MB total cache, to increase the amount of accessible information available. Game with smooth frame rates, stream in high definition, and create content flawlessly. The maximum 105W TDP delivers premium performance, enabling you to get the most out of this processor.
Zen 4
With the new generation of processors comes a new architecture. Evolving the highly performative Zen 3, the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X CPU utilises the innovative Zen 4 architecture. The new front-end design is paired with machine learning, enabling a better focus on core performance. Large frequency fluctuations are avoided thanks to the 256-bit data width, which also speeds up language and image processing.
Constantly innovating, AMD has integrated fourth-generation FinFET technology creating the worlds first 5mn consumer CPU. Overall, the processor is smaller, faster, and with lower power transistors to optimise performance. Whilst the die is 18% smaller, new features have been integrated that not only enable great functionality, but improve the energy efficiency of the processor. At the same power output, there is up to 49% more performance than seen in the previous architecture.
Future-Proofed
A key feature of the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X is how future-proofed the platform has been made. Starting with the new socket, AM5. AMD want this to be the platform that grows with you, supporting upcoming technological advances and industry standards.
For memory, AM5 will support DDR5 RAM modules, with maximum memory speeds up to 5200 MT/s. Additionally, a memory overclocking program has been developed specifically for the AMD Ryzen 7000 Series and DDR5, called AMD EXPO. This will offer optimised, on-click overclocking that can enhance 1080p gaming by 11% and reduce latency by up to 63ns.
The other future-proof feature is PCIe support. The AMD Ryzen 7 7700X is equipped with PCIe 5.0, for both graphics cards and storage. Enjoy ultra-fast connectivity on all your PCIe devices.
